While Israel was forced to confront to the Iranian-dominated axis – Syria, Iraq and Hizballah – on the one hand, it has been enjoying warmer relations with Egypt, Jordan and the Gulf countries, which all share a fear of a nuclear Shi’i-dominated Iran. This lecture will map Israel’s present role in the Middle East, and will shows how Israel’s regional status has improved, despite the new threats that it faces.
