The intensive development of the 1920-1940s was followed by a period of stagnation, but from the late 1980s modern Hungarian Studies emerged. Hungarian Institutes have been opened, and universities have started to offer MA in Hungarian Studies since 2010. Due to the Belt and Road Initiative programme, several Hungarian departments and research centres have been launched in China as well.
