Some Order in the Middle East Disorder
The Middle East has witnessed many upheavals since the outbreak of the Arab Spring in December 2010. Although those events most affected Egypt, Tunisia, Syria, Libya, and Yemen, the entire area, including the monarchies of Jordan, Morocco and Saudi Arabia, suffered from their ramifications. In addition, the US withdrawal from the Middle East, Russia’s return to the Middle East, and Iran’s growing involvement are also viewed as effects of the Arab Spring. This lecture attempts to create some order in what is seen as profound disorder in the Middle East.
