Reine Meylaerts is a leading scholar in Translation Studies and multilingualism, currently serving as Full Professor at KU Leuven. With a distinguished academic career spanning over a decade, she has held key institutional roles, including Vicerector of Research Policy (2017–2021) and Vicerector for the Social Sciences and Humanities Group (2021–2025). Her expertise spans translation policies, intercultural communication, and multilingual citizenship, with a focus on bridging theory and societal impact.  
Key Achievements:  
-Research Leadership: Principal investigator of multiple large-scale interdisciplinary projects funded by the EU, FWO, and KU Leuven, such as:  
·Places of Translation (2022–2025): Comparative study of local translation policies in Belgium and Switzerland.
·BELTRANS (2021–2024): Analysis of intra-Belgian literary translations and their cultural-political implications.
·ICANDID 3.0 (2022-2026): Development of FAIR data infrastructures for Social Sciences and Humanities.
-Global Engagement: Visiting professorships at Harvard University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and other prestigious institutions.  
-Mentorship: Supervised 19 PhD students to completion, fostering the next generation of translation scholars.  
-Academic Influence: Keynote speaker at over 40 international conferences and former review editor of Target: International Journal of Translation Studies.

Dr Paul Merchant works on modern and contemporary film and visual culture from Latin America. His current project explores cultural responses to the Pacific Ocean in Chile and Peru, and he has also written about Chilean and Argentine film. Dr Paul Merchant joined the Department of Hispanic, Portuguese and Latin American Studies in 2017, after completing a PhD at the University of Cambridge. His doctoral research formed the basis of his first monograph, Remaking Home: Domestic Spaces in Argentine and Chilean Film, 2005-2015 (forthcoming). He also completed Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Cambridge, writing his MPhil dissertation on the fragmentary imagery of the body in the works of the Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño.
