Dr. Peter Yacavone is Associate Professor of English at Shanghai International Studies University. He received a doctoral degree from the University of Warwick in 2015. He received an M. Phil. degree from the University of Oxford in 2003, an M.A. degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2010, and a bachelor’s degree from Brown University in 2001.
Dr. Yacavone’s research interests include Modern Drama, American Literature, Medieval Literature, popular genre fiction, and Film Studies with an emphases on American Cinema and Japanese Cinema. His book, entitled Negative, Nonsensical, and Nonconformist: The Films of Suzuki Seijun will be available from the University of Michigan Press in later 2022. He has published multiple articles in the journals Films & History, Language and Semiotic Studies, and the Journal of Japanese and Korean Cinema. He teaches the courses “American Literature”, “Modern Drama in Performance”, “Intro to Film History and Analysis”, “Chaucer and Middle English Literature”, and “Academic Writing”. He is also involved in drama performance at the School of English Studies, notably a 2021 production of Henry IV Part One which is available for viewing on bilbili and youtube.
