In this lecture, Lui Albaek Thomsen will present an overview of the use of VR/AR in mathematics education. VR/AR presents unique opportunities for interacting with mathematical concepts represented in virtual environments, which can support students’ learning by providing them concrete experiences with abstract concepts. Therefore, Lui will outline and discuss the state-of-the-art frameworks for understanding VR/AR’s role in learning goals of mathematics education, didactic considerations on VR/AR as a teaching tool, and opportunities for integrating VR into the classroom using collaborative and asymmetric configurations.

An AI analyst we build to digest corporate financial information, qualitative disclosure and news is able to beat the majority of human analysts in stock forecasts and generate excess returns compared to following human analysts alone. In the contest of “machine vs. human,” we find that the relative advantage of such an AI Analyst is stronger when the firm is complex, and when information is high-dimensional, transparent and voluminous. Human analysts remain competitive when critical information requires institutional knowledge (such as the nature of intangible assets). The edge of the AI analyst over human analysts declines over time, when analysts gain access to alternative data and to in-house AI resources. Combining AI’s computational power and the human art of understanding soft information produce the highest potential in generating accurate forecasts. Our paper suggests a future of “machine plus human” in high-skilled professions as an alternative to the replacement of humans by machines.

We experimentally compare four leadership-selection mechanisms in public goods games. There is no empirical support found for the effectiveness of leadership from the overall treatment perspective. The purely voluntary leadership produces the worst performance in aggregate, mainly due to the uncooperative behavior in leaderless groups and the internal conflict of interest between leaders. An interesting new insight from our work is that allowing a randomly selected group member to opt to take the leadership role is superior to the fully exogenously appointed or self-appointed leadership, where such a mechanism is capable of balancing the setting of a good enough example by leaders and the reciprocal response of followers.

【关于上海当代艺术博物馆】
上海当代艺术博物馆（Power Station of Art）成立于2012年10月1日，是中国大陆第一家公立当代艺术博物馆。同时，上海当代艺术博物馆也是上海双年展的所在地。它坐落于上海的母亲河黄浦江畔，占地4.2万平方米，展厅面积1.5万平方米，内部最高悬挑45米，高达165米的烟囱既是上海的城市地标也是一个特别的展览空间。
上海当代艺术博物馆建筑由原南市发电厂改造而来。它不仅见证了上海从工业到信息时代的城市变迁，也挥别了对能源无度攫取的过去。其粗砺不羁的工业建筑风格更是为艺术家的奇思妙想提供了丰富的可能。作为新城市文化的“生产车间”，不断自我更新，不断让自身处于进行时是这所博物馆的生命之源。上海当代艺术博物馆正努力为公众提供一个开放的当代文化艺术展示与学习平台；消除艺术与生活的藩篱；促进不同文化艺术门类之间的合作和知识生产。

【关于2021上海双年展】
上海双年展（Shanghai Biennale）始创于1996年，是中国大陆首个国际当代艺术双年展，也是当下亚洲最富影响力的艺术事件之一。自2012年，上海当代艺术博物馆成为上海双年展的主办方暨永久主场馆。从第1届以“开放的空间”为主题，经过第2届“融合与拓展”、第3届“海上·上海——一种特殊的现代性”、第4届“都市营造”、第5届的“影像生存”，第6届“超设计”、第7届“快城快客”、第8届“巡回排演”、第9届“重新发电”、第10届“社会工厂”、第11届“何不再问”，直至第12届“禹步”，上海双年展始终以上海城市为母体，秉持支持学术与文化创新的使命，以开放的视野持续追踪全球语境下的社会变革及知识生产趋势，成为每两年一次集结于上海的大型国际当代艺术展示与交流平台。
作为上海双年展历史上时间跨度最长、渗透领域最广的一届双年展，第13届上海双年展“水体”以交响乐渐趋增强的展览结构，在9个月的展期内划分为环环相扣的三个段落。经历了跨学科思想激荡的“湿运行”、多领域协作共生的“生态联盟”这两个阶段的渐强演绎后，最强音“一个展览”即将于今年4月17日至7月25日正式奏响。展览不仅将占据上海当代艺术博物馆的1至3楼，还将游牧至城市的各个角隅，向广大市民朋友呈现来自世界各地近50位艺术家的力作，其中不乏许多首次展出的新作。来自不同地区社会文化背景的声音都将在这一片海域交汇。

1872年，上海《申报》刊登的《一睡七十年》是欧文名作《瑞普•凡•温克尔》的第一个中文译作，也是目前可考的汉译第一篇美国小说。本讲座将这篇译作置于中国近代历史文化语境中加以考察，分析其“另类”的翻译尝试及其跨文化意义，探讨其“去异域化”翻译策略的得失，揭示其走在世界前沿的比较文学意识。
