The transition from the Information and Internet Society (3rd Industrial Revolution) to the Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Society (4th Industrial Revolution) is a fact. In terms of social responsibility, human-centered artificial intelligence must focus on optimizing modern societies' capabilities to respond to the increasing demands of a constantly changing and uncharted social, educational, economic, and cultural environment. The design and implementation of collaborative distance activities via video conferencing with the pedagogical utilization of artificial intelligence applications in Primary Schools in Greece, Cyprus, and 12 foreign countries is the central core of the "ODYSSEAS" program.

Founder and Director of the Laboratory for Advanced Learning Technologies in Lifelong and Distance Education [eLearning Lab]. Founder and Director of the Master's Program: Educational Sciences - e-Learning -eCreativity.
Since 2008, he has been a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the international scientific journal Computers and Education and of the International Journal of Mobile and Blended Learning (IJMBL), as well as on the review committee of the International Journal on E-Learning (IJEL) & Open Education: The Journal for Open and Distance Education and Educational Technology.
