Dr. Antonios Papaoikonomou is a member of the Teaching Staff at the Department of Political Science, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), where he has taught since 2017. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from AUTh (2011), with research focused on the educator’s role in shaping individual self-perception. His academic background spans political science, philosophy, educational research, theology, economics, and international studies. He has completed six postdoctoral research projects on topics such as European identity in education, student socialization, political disobedience in schools, adolescent civic education, and the intersection of Nazi propaganda with Richard Wagner’s music. Dr. Papaoikonomou has taught in over 10 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, with more than 25 years of experience in secondary and higher education. His teaching portfolio includes courses on research methodology, civic education, educational sociology, and youth political engagement. He has lectured at institutions including AUTh, University of Macedonia, HOU, ASPAITE, Beihang University (China), Cairo University, Cadi Ayyad (Morocco), Chiba University (Japan), Uninter (Mexico), Namangan State University (Uzbekistan), Adam University (Kyrgyzstan), and Caucasus University (Georgia). He is multilingual, fluent in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Persian, and Turkish. His research interests include educational research, sociology of education, and political sociology.Dr. Papaoikonomou has authored over 80 academic articles and 10 books in Greek, English, and German, covering themes such as adolescent identity, the role of educators, school-based political socialization, and the cultural dimensions of political education.
